Easther Chigumira is a Fulbright and Margaret McNamara (World Bank) Scholar who holds a Ph.D. in Geography (specialization in Political Ecology) from the University of Oregon, USA. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Zimbabwe. A land and agrarian expert and an environmental scientist, she uses spatial techniques such as GIS and Remote Sensing for modelling landscape and climate change scenarios. Her current research and capacity-building interests are related to land and agrarian studies, urban food studies, and climate change and the green economy. She is presently collaborating with the Africa Center for Cities (UCT, South Africa) ESRC/Dfid-funded project that looks at the nature of urban poverty in secondary African cities through the lens of food.
