Dra. Evelyn Valdez-Ward (ella/she) is a Mexican Ford Foundation Predoctoral and Switzer Foundation Fellow. Her research focuses on marginalized scientists’ use of science communication and policy for social justice. She co-founded the ReclaimingSTEM Institute, addressing the need for inclusive science communication spaces. Dra. Valdez-Ward was recognized with multiple awards, including the 2020 AAAS Mass Media Fellowship and the Ecological Society of America Science Communication in Practice Award. She earned her doctorate from the University of California in 2022 and currently serves as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Rhode Island.
