Dr. Geneviève Metson’s research interests center on sustainable cities and nutrient management and how cities can play an important role in ensuring food security and high water quality in a rapidly changing global landscape. She is currently a postdoctoral research associate with the U.S. National Research Council working with EPA and Washington State University Vancouver on phosphorus management and water quality across the USA. She obtained her PhD in Natural Resource Science from McGill University and her Master’s in Sustainability from Arizona State University, where she examined the interplay of phosphorus management, peri-urban and urban agriculture, diet, and urban sustainability. Dr. Metson combines social and natural science methods to look at these issues at multiple scales and her urban efforts so far have focused on Montreal, Canada; Phoenix, Arizona, US; Sydney Australia; Blantyre, Malawi; and Hanoi, Vietnam.
