Idah Mbengo is an environmental scientist who lecturers in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Zimbabwe. She has over 15 years of teaching, research and consulting experience. She specializes in environmental strategy formulation, environmental management systems, and social and environment impact assessments. Her current research interests are in cognitive and behavioural geography, with particular focus on behavioural attitudes of smallholder farmers (urban and rural) toward climate change, and strategies employed to adapt and/or mitigate climate change. She is presently working on the Africa Center for Cities (UCT, South Africa) ESRC/Dfid-funded project that looks at the nature of urban poverty in secondary African cities through the lens of food.
